There is an incredible magic to intimate micro weddings—the freedom to move slowly, savor every intentional moment, and create a day that is entirely, authentically yours. On July 30th, Natalie and Spencer celebrated their wedding in Kansas City, balancing soft garden romanticism with a vibrant, high-energy celebration.
As a Kansas City elopement and micro wedding photographer and videographer, documenting their entire day through both photo and video as a solo creator was an absolute honor.

A Quiet, Unrushed Morning
The day began in a relaxed, peaceful home setting. Natalie and Spencer opted for a quiet morning getting ready separately, allowing room to breathe and soak in the anticipation. From gentle moments of hair and makeup prep to Spencer putting on his suit with family, the morning set a calm, grounded tone for everything to come.

An Intimate Ceremony at the Overland Park Arboretum
Nestled among lush greenery and stone pathways, the couple tied the knot at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. Just before the ceremony was set to start, a brief summer rain shower passed through, sweeping the gardens with a fresh, earthy mist. Almost on cue, the sky cleared, and the sun broke through.
Guests held delicate parasols as a live mariachi band played along the water’s edge. When Natalie walked down the outdoor aisle toward Spencer, his raw reaction said it all. Surrounded by blooming flowers, serene ponds, and their closest loved ones, they exchanged vows in a setting that felt entirely magic—like nature itself cleared the skies just for them.

Festive Airbnb Reception & Live Mariachi Energy
Immediately following the ceremony, the celebration moved to a private Airbnb where the fiesta truly began! The mariachi band kept the festive energy alive from the ceremony all the way through the end of the reception at 9:00 PM.
Guests enjoyed an intimate dinner under string lights, heartfelt toasts, and a vintage-style heart cake adorned with “Just Married” piping. The atmosphere was a seamless blend of lively music, warm family connection, and unscripted laughter.

Private Sunset Vows & Golden Hour Portraits
As the golden hour sun dipped behind the tree line, Natalie and Spencer snuck away from the party for a quiet, deeply emotional moment. Surrounded only by tall grass and soft evening light, they read private vows to one another—a sacred beat in the day to connect completely away from the crowd.
We followed their vows with sunset portraits, capturing dynamic movement, romantic embraces, and that unmistakable post-ceremony glow.

What Stood Out: Gallery & Video Essence
The Gallery Vibe: Natural, Timeless & Full of Movement
Natalie and Spencer’s photo gallery highlights warm organic greens, soft garden florals, and genuine emotion. A mix of editorial portraiture and candid photojournalism, the collection balances soft romance (like intimate embraces under canopy trees) with fun, motion-blur portraits that capture the joy of spinning together in the grass.
The Film Vibe: Nostalgic, Heartfelt & Full of Life
Capturing both photo and cinema solo allows the film and gallery to feel completely cohesive. The wedding video feels like a romantic short film—blending acoustic strings, sweeping garden views, the brassy warmth of the live mariachi, and subtle vintage-inspired motion. It captures the rhythm of their day: quiet morning anticipation, emotional vows, and an unforgettable evening with family.
Real Client Words
“It’s more than I expected. You made us feel comfortable. I love that you helped with posing. You worked your butt off the day of. Our family was so impressed with you. I absolutely loved the video… It was beyond beautiful.”
