As a Kansas City engagement photographer (who also travels across the US photographing intimate weddings and elopements!), there is nothing quite like capturing a couple’s love story right here in KC.
When Natalie & Spencer reached out about capturing their engagement session in Kansas City ahead of their micro wedding this July, I was thrilled. They wanted a gallery that felt diverse, timeless, and deeply personal—blending classic architectural romance, sleek urban charm, and that iconic Kansas City sunset view.
If you are currently planning your engagement session or searching for the best photoshoot locations in Kansas City, here is a look inside our evening together!

Location 1: European Romance at Verona Columns
We kicked off the session at one of the most romantic hidden gems in the KC metro area.
With its historic Italian marble pillars, lush greenery, and stone fountain, Verona Columns gives off an instant classic, European vibe. It was the perfect backdrop for Natalie & Spencer to start their session feeling sophisticated and relaxed.

Location 2: Urban Chic in Downtown Kansas City
Next, we headed into the heart of **Downtown Kansas City** to add a little chic, high-energy variety to their gallery.
Walking through downtown KC gives you a mix of modern architecture, historic brickwork, and timeless city streets. Natalie & Spencer changed into a slightly bolder look, and we let the energy of the city take over—capturing candid laughs, quiet moments between crosswalks, and editorial portraiture.

Location 3: Golden Hour & Sunset Over the KC Skyline
To wrap up the evening, we headed to a favorite lookout point to catch the golden hour and twilight glow over the **Kansas City skyline**.
There is truly nothing like watching the sun dip behind the buildings while the city lights begin to flicker on. As the evening settled in, we focused on romantic, atmospheric shots that highlighted both the couple and the dramatic KC skyline.
